Jay By Jay have managed many projects coordinating the efforts of builders, joiners, plasterers, glaziers and even plumbers, but this time the roles were reversed.  The Mill Forge Hotel in Kirkpatrick Fleming has seen hundreds of happy couples marry at their scenic location close to the world famous Gretna Green but with a strong link with the building industry, not only were we not coordinating the project, the builders were working at amazing speeds leaving little room for the delivery of computers, monitors, servers, software, printers, network cabinets and other network devices.  On top of this, The Mill Forge Hotel have invested heavily in a new computerised system bringing bookings for weddings, hotel rooms and cash register sales from both the restaurant and bar areas in to one central database. 

An establishment which is so reliant on such a powerful database controlling an entire business has to have the peace of mind that this database will be both secure and reliable.  With the site being protected by a well configured Fujitsu-Siemens server running Windows Server 2003 and being protected by a Liebert 1500VA Uninterruptible Power Supply, a hardware based firewall and SOPHOS antivirus the security of the data which is our primary concern is taken care of.  The second element, the reliability of the data was assured by the use of high quality data cabling, terminating into both high quality patch panes and data outlet points.  The final link in any computer chain is the integrity of any data backup to allow for the unforeseen, such as theft or fire.  Using modern technology our design team have implemented a fail safe backup and restore procedure allowing for peace of mind for The Mill Forge Hotel which will be future proof, reliable and easy to restore, should the need ever arise.
